Are you a seasoned legal professional with a knack for navigating regulatory landscapes and ensuring organisational compliance? A globally renowned law firm with a reputation for innovation and excellence is seeking a dynamic Risk Lawyer to join their Risk Management team in London. As a pivotal member of the Risk Management team, the successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Risk and directly support the Director of Risk on key regulatory matters. They will join a diverse team of legal risk experts, including a Senior Risk Lawyer specialising in insurance and claims, a Senior Data Protection Lawyer, an International Risk Lawyer, and a dedicated Paralegal. As part of the team, you will support the UK business operations and extend expertise to some of the firm's international offices.
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance Oversight: Review and update client documentation, provide expert review and commentary on Outside Counsel Guidelines, and anticipate regulatory changes through horizon scanning.
Legal Research and Policy Development: Conduct legal research to understand SRA obligations and draft risk-related documents, policies, and internal updates to ensure regulatory alignment.
Training and Development: Prepare and deliver training materials for inductions and other risk-related training sessions to enhance team capabilities.
Risk Management Support: Manage risk-related registers and schedules to track compliance activities and coordinate responses to risk-related queries received via pitch documents, supplier questionnaires, and the risk management inbox.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Professional Experience: Qualified lawyer with at least 3 years’ experience in SRA regulation, ideally in a large firm, showcasing a strong grasp of regulatory issues and a keen interest in risk and compliance matters.
Effective Communication and Trust-building: Demonstrates excellent communication skills to foster trust within the team and the business, facilitating clear and effective communication.
Practical Problem-solving and Adaptability: Exhibits practicality, creativity, and adaptability in providing pragmatic solutions to complex problems, while remaining aware of personal limitations and seeking support when necessary.
