The Head of Conflicts will be responsible for leading and developing the regional conflicts function, providing expert guidance on conflicts clearance, compliance, and risk management. Acting as the senior escalation point for complex matters, this role will advise partners and senior business teams on conflict risks, balancing regulatory obligations with commercial objectives. The position also includes strategic oversight of policy development, training, and process improvement, ensuring the firm maintains consistent global standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the UK & EMEA Conflicts team, ensuring high-quality service delivery and professional development.
- Act as the senior escalation point for complex conflicts and client onboarding issues.
- Oversee the review, resolution, and documentation of conflicts for new business, clients, and lateral hires.
- Develop and maintain policies, processes, and training initiatives to enhance risk management.
- Collaborate with global colleagues to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing across regions.
- Build strong relationships with partners and senior stakeholders, providing pragmatic, commercial advice on risk and compliance.
This role would suit a qualified solicitor or legal professional with extensive experience in conflicts analysis and management within a large UK or international law firm. You’ll bring a deep understanding of professional conduct rules (including the SRA Code of Conduct and other jurisdictional frameworks), excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and proven experience leading high-performing teams. The ideal candidate will demonstrate sound judgment, strong stakeholder management, and the confidence to make decisions in complex, high-pressure situations.
