This role sits at the heart of the firm’s risk and compliance function, providing critical guidance on conflicts, ethical obligations, and business intake processes. You will analyse new engagements, identify risks, propose solutions, and help maintain the firm’s reputation for integrity and excellence. Working closely with lawyers and leadership across the business, you will contribute to a proactive, collaborative, and trusted compliance culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and facilitate the new business intake process.
• Conduct thorough conflicts of interest analyses using internal and external databases.
• Draft, review, and implement conflict waivers and ethical walls.
• Advise lawyers and business services teams on ethical considerations and SRA Code of Conduct compliance.
• Deliver training and guidance on conflicts and intake policies.
• Handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
• Support continuous improvements across conflicts and intake procedures.

Who This Role Would Suit

This position is ideal for a qualified lawyer with at least 2 years’ experience in conflicts, professional ethics, or business intake within a major law firm. You will bring:

• Strong working knowledge of the SRA Code of Conduct and UK/US conflict rules.
• Proven experience with conflicts search systems such as Intapp.
• Excellent analytical ability, sound judgement, and a high level of integrity.
• Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders and navigating complex risk scenarios.
• A proactive, detail-orientated mindset and the ability to manage competing deadlines under pressure.
