This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced lawyer to join a respected Risk & Best Practice team within a leading UK law firm based in the Bristol office. The role offers meaningful involvement in firm-wide risk, regulatory and contract management matters, with real exposure to senior stakeholders and governance.
Why apply?
• High-impact role with visibility across the firm and access to senior decision-makers
• Varied remit spanning contract management, regulatory compliance and policy development
• Hybrid working – 2–3 days in the office, supporting flexibility and collaboration
Working closely with partners, lawyers and business services colleagues, this role provides legal and regulatory support with a particular focus on client engagement terms and contract management. The successful candidate will help maintain strong compliance standards, support client activity and contribute to continuous improvement across risk and governance processes.
Key responsibilities
• Review and advise on engagement terms, codes of conduct and compliance with client and firm policies
• Support client pitches, marketing activity and updates to engagement letters and terms of business
• Maintain risk and compliance policies and procedures, including regulatory monitoring
• Advise on secondments, overseas working and international network matters
• Provide risk and regulatory advice across the firm, including SRA and AML matters
• Deliver training, support audits and accreditations, and contribute to governance reporting
• Support and develop junior team members
The ideal candidate
This role would suit a lawyer with a practising certificate or strong law firm risk and compliance experience, ideally with exposure to commercial contract review. It would also strongly appeal to a fee earner seeking a well-supported transition into risk and compliance, offering breadth, responsibility and long-term career development. Strong knowledge of the SRA regulatory framework, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities are essential.
This is a broad, influential role for a risk-focused lawyer seeking variety, responsibility and progression within a collaborative, hybrid working environment.
