We are partnering with a globally renowned law firm to recruit an exceptional GDPR Compliance Manager. Located in London, the firm's largest office outside of New York and the epicentre of its European compliance operations, this role offers a unique opportunity to lead and enhance the data protection framework within a prestigious legal environment.

The GDPR Compliance Manager will report to the Associate Director – Risk and Compliance and the Administrative Partner in London. They will play a pivotal role in fostering a robust compliance culture across the office, leading data protection efforts across the firm's London and EU offices. This includes the continual review and updating of policies and procedures, managing data transfer requirements, responding to data subject requests, and maintaining registrations with data authorities.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Conduct audits of current privacy and data protection policies, identifying gaps and making improvements based on market practice.

  • Stay updated with new developments in data protection law, ensuring the firm's compliance strategies are aligned with regulatory changes.

  • Manage and streamline standard forms for efficient handling of repeated data protection queries and tasks.

  • Share expertise and provide training on data protection issues to the wider London Compliance team, lawyers, and staff.

 

Key Requirements Include:

  • Degree level education with 4-5 years of proven experience in a compliance role focusing on GDPR and data protection within a large City or international law firm.

  • In-depth knowledge of both EU and UK GDPR regulations is essential.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the flexibility to work effectively in a small, dynamic team.

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to implement process changes.

  • Client-focused, solutions-oriented approach with a commercial and pragmatic outlook.

  • Resilience and exceptional interpersonal skills to interact constructively at all levels.
