Compliance Lawyers are in hot demand!

In the past few years, both international and national law firms are beginning to invest heavily into their Compliance offering.

Whilst most Magic Circle firms in the UK already have a large established department specifically for this area, their US counterparts have also begun rapidly recruiting in this area. This is mainly due to changes in regulations affecting law firms which require Compliance Lawyers to deal with a range of areas to improve efficiency and reduce risk for their employer. The work can range from Anti-Bribery and Corruption issues to Sanctions and Business Acceptance.

But what are the benefits of being a Compliance Lawyer? Here are few of my favourite benefits:

Salary

Compliance Lawyers are paid well for the important work they do! Whilst there is a slight haircut in comparison to private practice, the money for senior positions can be lucrative.

Work/Life Balance

The hours of a Compliance are a lot more tolerable than those of a Corporate Lawyer. Couple this with the salary and you are essentially getting paid well for less hours in the office and your weekend back.

Cutting Edge Work

Compliance Lawyers can handle some really cutting-edge and interesting world that directly affect how the law firm operates.

If you are considering a fresh challenge that still pays well and offers interesting work, the Compliance route could definitely be an option to explore.
